Prolific Shoplifter Jailed Following Repeat Offending

A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after committing six thefts from shops across Ashford within days of being released from prison on 21 June 2026.
 

Between 22 and 29 June, the offender targeted stores including Morrisons Stanhope Road, Morrisons Singleton, Co-op Brookfield Court and Ashford Designer Outlet. He was already subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from entering these locations due to his persistent offending.
 

Following his arrest on 30 June, he was charged with six theft offences, six breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order, and refusing to provide a Class A drug test sample in custody.
 

At court, he pleaded guilty and received 4 months' imprisonment for the thefts and 3 months for the CBO breaches, resulting in a total sentence of 7 months' imprisonment.
 

This result demonstrates Kent Police's commitment to tackling shoplifting and using all available powers, including Criminal Behaviour Orders, to protect local businesses, staff and customers from prolific offenders.
